We unveil the visual creator shouted out in one of the most famous rap songs of all time

As the Art of Hip Hop gears up for major exhibitions changes in time for March 5th, known locally as "305 Day," we begin to highlight Miami's local artist who have had an impact on globally renown Hip Hop culture. For instance, beginning March 5th, the exhibition will contain a section on SKAM2? who is an underground rapper best known for his visual art on the Slim Shady LP. (Btw, the "2?" in SKAM2?'s name is silent!) SKAM2? gets an epic should out on Eminem's record "Stan" which certified 4x Platinum in March 2022 by the RIAA. "Stan" is from Eminem's third studio album, "The Marshall Mathers LP," released in 2000. The song tells a fictional and intense story through a series of letters from an obsessed fan named "Stan" to Eminem. The term "Stan" has since entered popular culture as a reference to an overly obsessive and fanatic fan.

One specific lyric in the song says: "I know you probably hear this every day, but I'm your biggest fan, I even got the underground shit that you did with Skam." This is referring to SKAM2? who drew the artwork for the Slim Shady LP. SKAM2? is from Carol City, a suburb of Miami, and grew up skateboarding and doing things his own way. According to SKAM2, he was given very little direction for the job and wasn't closely familiar with a lot of the more hardcore prescription drugs like Tylenol 4 and Vicodin that Slim Shady was rapping about.

Fast forward to today, SKAM2? is still creating visuals for high profile Hip Hop projects, as he recently completed the logo for Miami's own national podcast called Drink Champs which began in 2015. The format of "Drink Champs" typically involves hosts N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN having discussions with guests over drinks, often including shots of alcohol. The relaxed atmosphere of the show allows for candid and sometimes humorous conversations. The hosts and guests share stories, discuss hip-hop culture, and touch on various topics, creating an engaging and entertaining experience for listeners. The podcast has featured a wide range of guests, including legendary hip-hop artists, producers, DJs, and other influential figures in the industry. Some episodes delve into the guests' personal and career experiences, while others touch on current events in the world of hip-hop. It is a major undertaking to represent this in a single logo, but SKAM2? got it done!
